Actually it goes like this... try to punish a corporation:
1) They pay the fine because it's cheaper than compliance with the law.
2) Threaten to move out of state or overseas to get the penalties dropped or changed in their favor.
3) Dissolve the corporation and start a new one to continue their business practices.
4) Buy off government official(s)
5) Yes on a rare occasion a corporate executive gets sent to a jail that is not like the jail 99% of inmates go to.

In 1975, my senior year in high school, my graphic arts class went on a field trip to a large commercial print house in San Francisco. This company had a photography studio with a kitchen in it, but I wouldn't recommend eating any food from there. Like Roast Turkey? It sure looks yummy after you cook it then spray it with silicone to make it look all shiny and juicy. Like a nice bubbling pot of soup? Just be careful not to swallow the marbles if they serve you a bowl of it. There were other things they showed us about industry secrets used to sell a product that were akin to false advertizing.
Maybe this will solve the ego and body awareness types dilemma:

Some people are forgetting that low-reflectivity is not the only factor in making good glass. Anti-Glare is only as good as the glass transparency. The images provided in the article are very poor quality, preventing you from comparing the leaves. I'm sure many of you have seen this firsthand on a smartphone with cheap protective film on it.
I don't think they meant "National Internet", what they meant to say was "National Intranet".

Can we please get off this hobby horse? The Tolkien estate isn't "censoring speech," it's protecting its trademarks, which it is required to do by law. If this guy had made a bunch of buttons for himself and as many of his friends as wanted them (all three), nothing would have happened. Instead he set up a store on Zazzle and tried to sell them. Zazzle has a clear policy that it will not sell items that violate copyrights, trademarks, or other intellectual property. These buttons do that. So the Tolkien estate complained, this guy's product was pulled, end of story. He wasn't sued, he wasn't thrown in jail -- in fact, he can still go buy a button maker and make himself some buttons and nothing would happen to him. The idea that he's being "censored" is silly, and there are lots of companies that are far more litigious about such things than the Tolkien estate.
Not "required to do by law", but allowed to do by law. The Tolkien estate can also choose to not exercise their legal rights on a case by case or broad use basis. It comes down to what is fair and equitable in terms of financial and moral terms. Sometimes throwing a bone to small dogs can help your bottomline and your public perception over time.
LightPeak is a much cooler name... and less ambiguous as a search term... and less childish sounding.
....except for the fact that the initial rollout of "LightPeak" will be via copper connects. DOH!
I doubt that Google never scans other search or indexing sites to see what is popular or relevant. It would be foolish not to do so. This may not be the core of their methedology, but to skip all search and indexing sites?
>>>Conservatism has been often described as a political philosophy that denies or tries to prevent change.
Which is why I've never liked the word "conservative". I'm registered Republican and yet want to repeal the Patriot Act, shrink government to the enumerated powers in the Constitution, and legalize marijuana, cocaine, et cetera. I can hardly be called conservative, despite people's attempts to attach it to me
Meanwhile the so-called "liberals" seem intent to roll us back to Serfdom. It's as if they want to restore a 1500s-style political system in modern society, where the common man is treated like wards of the government. Rolling our individual liberty back 400 years, like serfs, is true conservativism.
>>>Yet television, by its nature, tugs to the Right.
Maybe in the UK but not in the US. The networks of ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS, CNN, and MSNBC all lean left and it's been that way since the 1950s. The only right-leaning channel is FOX News and that's a recent development (it didn't pass 50% coverage until 2002).
>>>Without Net Neutrality laws very soon.....
Or we could just break-up the Cable monopolies. If I were free to choose Comcast or Cox or Time or Cablevision or GoogleTV or Verizon or ATTT or..... it wouldn't matter if they chose to block websites. I could just change companies the same way I change grocery stores. Companies would quickly realize that censoring the net is a sure way to lose customers, and stop doing it.
You are using "Double Speak" my friend, if you don't realizes that Corporations are pushing an agenda in politics that would have us all act as "Serfs" to the Landholders and Corporate leaders for their self interests and profit. Sure they claim to be doing things to help create jobs, but this is for the most part a lie. PROFIT is their god and goal nothing and no one else. In the end they care nothing for patriotism or the common good. Coporations and their Executives see them selves a the Svengali's of commerce and politics. The very rich are so out of touch with the middle and lower classes, for the most part, that they can't even see the harm they are doing. Regulation is what is needed. Corporate law needs a major revamp to bring the balance of power back to "We The People"!
Part of the problem with intelectual property and patent law is that people acctually can have the same idea.
Unless you act on that idea it should become invalid or at least not able to obstruct someone that can prove they didn't steal said idea/patent.
Otherwise all you are doing is laying landmines for others to step on.
Was hit in face with a rock. Lost an eye.
I was shot in my right eyelid by a Rifle BB-Gun and didn't lose my eye. I closed my eyes when I noticed I was looking straight down the barrel of the gun held by a "friend" about 30 feet away. Tore my iris and had minor interior bleed, but no major lasting effect.
It's a naive, domestic operating system without any breeding, but I think you'll be amused by its presumption.
