I work with someone who started an IT career in their mid 30s in an entry level (help desk) position. I've seen people retire from IT from the same help desk, the same as I've seen people advance to other parts of the company and other government agencies. At 28 I'm actually the second youngest on our team. When I say help desk that's just the beginning too. We do production monitoring as well as being system operators.

So, while the TSA routinely sexually abuses American citizens while demanding they provide photo id, the agency has had policies that would allow an illegal immigrant, with unknown background and who has come from outside the country, to board planes using a simple form that anyone can photocopy.
Does anyone but me see something significantly wrong with this picture? Didn’t Congress originally create the TSA to prevent foreign nationals from boarding planes to hijack them?
The TSA is a joke imposed on us by our elected officials and approved of by too many Americans because it allows them to make believe we are doing something about terrorism. Other elected officials and TSA managers and employees than use the agency as a weapon to obtain power and crush the freedom of Americans. In that context, these actions by the TSA, including lying about their policies, make complete sense.

First I'm an NRA member myself. Second I didn't read the article, but by the summary this was in no way a self defense shooting and the perp should rot in jail. I am one that believes that self defense is a right granted by God the same way that freedom of speech and freedom of expression is granted. Wasting a life because somebody got pissed is not a good excuse. Now when it comes to movies personally I only go to the drive-in or watch Blu-Ray anymore and I even turn off my phone at the drive in as I don't want the distraction. The last time I was in a regular theater was 2007 when I watched The Simpsons Movie.

I assumed a maximum power consumption of 30 watts and I think that is pushing it. If the printer for some reason is in graphics mode you are looking at a minute or two per page and event at 30 watts you risk depleting batteries.
Line printers??? Do you realize how much power those things take? I'm assuming he has a power budget of 30 watts or less. If it wasn't for that restriction I'd tell him to go with a good dot matrix printer.
I don't think there is a modern printing technology that can meet the requirements. Lets take a look.
Dot Matrix Impact is out due to excessive power.
Thermal is out due to longevity issues of both supplies and the actual printouts.
Laser/LED is out, again due to excessive power.
Daisy Wheel is out due to lack or printer availability. Not sure about power.
Ink Jet would only be feasible if you can find one that takes cheap ink, these take little power.
WWVH also operates on those frequencies. It is possible to hear both at the same time with good conditions and a good antenna. As a user of HF spectrum this is a valuable resource.
