Submission + - Republican CNN/Youtube debate full of plants 7

StopKoolaidPoliticsT writes: Wednesday night, the Republican candidates participated in a debate run by CNN with questions fielded from Youtube. Today, even The NY Times, hardly a bastion of conservatism, is questioning CNN's vetting of the people whose question were chosen. There are at least eight participants who have already been outed as Democratic activists, interns and supporters, the least of which is retired Brig. General Keith Kerr who serves on two of Hillary Clinton's campaign advisory panels and was flown to the debate by CNN to ask a follow-up question live. Was it fair for CNN to frame the Republican debate in terms of Democrat ideology? Should those who would question the candidates at least be honest about who they are everyone knows the full context of the question? Did CNN fulfill its journalistic responsibility?

Submission + - How Rush Limbaugh Humiliated the Democrats and Enr (associatedcontent.com)

MarkWhittington writes: "In the 1973 film, The Three Musketeers, Cardinal Richelieu, played by Charlton Heston, muses, upon being presented with the Carte Blanche by D'Artagnan, "One should be careful about what one writes or who one gives it to." Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid should have remembered His Eminence's warning when he decided to send a letter to the President of Clear Channel Communications Mark Mays demanding that Rush Limbaugh be forced to apologize for something he actually did not say."

Submission + - Limbaugh/Reid letter to exceed $2.1 M on Ebay

EdZep writes: The Original Harry Reid/Rush Limbaugh Smear Letter Ebay auction will end at 10am PDT, with a price somewhere in excess of $2.1 Million. With all proceeds going to the Marine Corps — Law Enforcement Foundation, Matt Drudge wonders: "Largest charity bid in the history of Ebay?" The letter, signed by 41 US Senators, caused quite a stir in the media, with the signatories claiming that "...Limbaugh's recent characterization of troops who oppose the war as 'phoney soldiers' is such an outrage." Having already noted that his remarks were taken wildly out of context to smear a private citizen, Limbaugh put the letter up for auction to benefit a longtime favorite charity, the Marine Corps — Law Enforcement Foundation. It remains to be seen whether the charitable windfall resulting from Limbaugh's turning the tables on 41 Senators will be widely reported in the media.
