The so-called "privacy extensions" address this, though seemingly not by design, but simply because the dumb fucks behind "privacy extensions" provided something useful. Basically, in Linux for example, the kernel will choose a new random IPv6 address every day, and keep old ones for seven days. It always uses the newest one for outgoing connections, but will accept incoming connections on any.

Sounds like a real recipe for reliable operation there, as well as reducing the complexity of something like NAT, especially amongst different operating systems.

Um, no. The whole "NAT is security" argument is bullshit. KISS: I'd rather have a simple firewall which either blocks or does not block ports/IPs (or connections, if stateful) than a complex firewall which also has to rewrite packets.

I'm afraid it's not. I never cease to be amazed by people who think that managing multiple IP addresses is better and less error prone than one, and frankly, I don't want anyone being able to discern anything about what should be my *internal* network.

Explain how those were the result of fiat currency.

Every single fiat currency since the dawn of time has failed, without exception, and with terrible results. In between, every thirty or forty years or so we get a slightly different currency, some partly 'backed' by gold, some completely fiat, but they all fail in the end.

Odd - I did well in both 2001 and 2008, and although I have hard investments, I simply didn't invest where the "smart" people said I should. I invested in what I knew would work. That's where most of my money went, and then returned with profit.

I believe you. Even if you have, you got lucky and you're not the 90% I'm afraid, which is my point.

Even more odd is that you think that the fiscal insanity was caused by fiat currency, when in fact, most was caused by lack of regulation, mortgage originators who had no fiscal stake in the process, leading to mortgages to people who never should have them, and the insanity ne plus ultra - the 50 year morgage. a favorite of 80 year olds.

The lack of regulation comes from creating fiat in large amounts with wild abandon for those well connected. It's pretty damn obvious frankly.

Dude, any Government that can make everyone's electronic money worthless, can take your Gold

There will be no government.....because no one will be able to afford one.

Dunno what China has to do with any of this, but if you fear a war is coming, maybe you should tell Putin to stop? Because he's the one hell-bent on conquering his neighbours, which is what this is about.

The only country hell-bent on war is the United States because their power and influence in the world is waning and the sun is very rapidly setting on their empire, such that it is.

Really, because the only side known to absolutely have such anti-aircraft missiles are Ukraine, and they've used them to shoot down an airliner before.

For Russia or the pro-Russian militia to argue otherwise is incredulously sad, pathetic and stupid. Shameful.

As opposed to all the other unsubstantiated propaganda?

My guess is that the Russians gave their people/proxies in eastern Ukraine enough training to shoot something down, but not to clearly ascertain what they were shooting at.

Errrrr, no. Russians don't do that nor are they going to provide any equipment that will incriminate them. People forget that for all westerners believe they are a bunch of irresponsible peasants these people play a heck of a lot of chess, which means they sit back, investigate, take stock and when they make their move you don't even knows it's happened. Russia is not some tinpot country in some backwater and that's what makes the current situation so dangerous.
