Cameron sounds like the Donald Trump of the UK, except scarier - he's already been elected.
Says the guy who wants 99,999 ferraris so he can drive a different one every day.
Because 100,000 would be ridiculous.
The summary mentions "Wealthy retirees today also already live an essentially post-money existence, "travelling and exploring and deepening their understanding of the world and being generally happy." which sounds great.
Yes it sounds great. Of course it's their savings -- ie: money -- that allows them to do all that. So not so "post-money" after all... TFA and TFS are misguided in that respect. And budget cat food sells well because there's a difference between spending and wasting money
Have you checked out Leigh Alexander's new website Offworld? I hear it's like Jezebel but better. Give it a try. It sounds closer to your convictions than
/. will ever be.
I've been on Slashdot since you were jacking off to cheerleaders.
That's actually a little sad - and my ID is about 100k less than yours. [ Fuck me; I need to get a life. ]
Political Correctness teaches us that women CEO's are always great. So we should hire her, right? I mean, what could possibly go wrong?
I know you're making a point satirically, but for those that don't get it I'll answer with two words: Carly Fiorina
If society has devolved to the point where it is acceptable to clamp down on unpopular (aka offensive) speech, then please, kill me now. I want no part of a society like that.
Depends on who's doing the clamping. The Government? Unacceptable. But individuals, companies, corporations don't have to fund or support unpopular or offensive expression - as determined by those entities themselves. The First Amendment only says the Government cannot make laws that interfere with your speech...
First lithium-ion battery fires, now this. What could go wrong?
It is not cost effective to mine bitcoins using electricity from FFs.
Jesus, Firefox now generates electricity too?
Yet. What if that changes? Will Google be allowed to un-delete him? How will they know to do so?
This despite the prevalence of outlets at home and work,
I've never worked anywhere, in my 30 years in the workforce, that had any outlets (free or pay) in or even near the parking lot. Perhaps that will change over time as EVs become more prevalent, but I don't see any evidence of that now around where I live and work in Virginia Beach. (inb4: YMMV)
Proxomitron is being developed again?!?
Nope, but it still works on Win7.
It seems like something that would make it much more difficult for ordinary thieves to exploit cell phones. That would seem to be pretty useful.
And much easier for the Police / FBI / etc... to exploit to unlock your phone. That would seem to be pretty useful - for them.
The fingerprinting is far more secure.
But also problematic, from a usability standpoint. As people that actually work with their hands know, the ability to take a reliable fingerprint can be impeded by blisters, etc. For example, a (long) while ago I had to delay getting my fingerprints taken at NASA because my finger tips were beaten up from recently working around the house and on my car.
An Ada exception is when a routine gets in trouble and says 'Beam me up, Scotty'.
