Jobs made an impact, Stallman just bitches and whines all the time. I talked to a guy that picked him up at the airport and Stallman bitched at the guy for using his credit card to fill up the tank instead of cash. They can track you with your credit card. Compare emacs with the shiny toys Jobs made and I think we see who comes out on top.
...it's the fear of the unknown. What if it's not as good as it looks? If you're making more money and gaining an hour and a half every day it's a no brainer.
I reconsider my hasty comment. They do allow use for internal development purposes. It's not free as in beer, but that's actually not too bad.

There hasn't been a lot of change in laptop design in the past fifteen years. With the success of the iPad I think we're about to see some major changes to the laptop interface. So companies are building out their IP portfolio as both offensive and defensive weapons for any future litigation.

...but I very rarely watch a movie more than once. Ever. So now I just watch the movie for $4.99 OnDemand and I'm done. I still purchase movies for the kids because they'll watch great titles like "Planet 51" over and over again.
I think the bigger problem is that there are few titles worth purchasing rather than blaming everything on piracy. I don't know if I've ever seen a pirated movie for sale anywhere. But I've seen many crappy titles that I've picked up and then placed back on the shelf.

Those sites use Flash extensively and it runs like a dog on my daughter's hand-me-down iBook G4. I don't think you'll be happy with the results on a G3. Flash isn't written well or at least with the same optimizations as the Windows version.
Of course it's fake, but it's still funny.
I buy CDs if they're priced reasonably or better yet, used or borrowed and import them to iTunes. I basically use the CDs as backup for my music. If iTunes allowed you to download everything again if you lost your hard drive, I would stop buying CDs completely.
