To think the same thing had happened back when Gamespy had bought out the Mplayer service.

The Mplayer client was functional for the era it was in. At the time my connection was rather crappy with dial up having to be the only way at the time and this was having large files be a pain do download with the speeds that were available in that part of town. Needless to say for some files, you could have made a large breakfast with all the fixings and eaten it before the file was done.

If that was the case, then someone might want to tell Gibeau to look at the back catalog and see what made the games fun. If the bloody moron thinks it happens to be graphics, then he should be forced to endure some games that were actually fun to play in either solo or multiplayer.

Anyone for locking him up in a room with a copy of M.U.L.E and one of the old respective platforms it was released on? Sure it would be a pain to do; but sometimes the ones who write the cheques for the developers need to actually try playing the games whilst they are in development as a test subject.

I think some of the old game coders & designers from the earlier eras could show Mr. Gibeau on what made the games fun. I'm not talking about unlimited resources to make another cookie cutter FPShitter either. They had limitations on what they could do; and I would give them a major salute for pulling off what they did with the resources of the era.

Methinks an anonymous Conservative coward. Shall we be seeing the disintegration of the tories by law or a physical rending? There are left wingers who would gladly see the PM get what is coming to him in the form of punishment. Crimes against humanity could likely be levied against Harper and cabinet in respect to the G20/G8 meetings.

I've heard that a few people would love to see Harper and company literally hanging for what they have done to the country. Personally I'd prefer Harper to stand before Madame Guillotine for her loving embrace if we cannot see him hanging from the Peace Tower.

Submission + - Kim Dotcom Trolls Kiwi Donations Debacle (like-a-boss.org)

dmbkiwi writes: "This time, it's not Dotcom on the receiving end of the red hot poker of authority, rather he's giving some back. Some may say that this is inappropriate given the man is effectively under house arrest in respect of the MegaUpload debacle. However, since he's technically — although in this instance not practically (destruction of a business with nothing more than a "megaCONSPIRACY" — innocent until proven guilty, why not have some fun with some kiwi politicians?"

Submission + - Ask slashdot: What programming language should an old hack REALLY dig into? 1

An anonymous reader writes: I was a consultant for nearly 20 years and I got into projects where I had to work with a huge variety of software, operating systems, hardware, programming languages, and other assorted technologies. After retiring from that I have spent the last 10 years in a completely different sector. Now I find myself wanting to really focus on coding for personal reasons. You can imagine how out-of-touch I am since I never really was more than a hack to begin with. I can learn syntax and basics in a weekend, question is, what Language should I become native to? Never liked anything 'lower-level' than C, and I don't have the funds to 'buy' my development environment....help me slashdot..you're my only hope...
