Sorry for the late reply but...

A) your linked to article does not mention a single disease that can be prevented with inoculation and is thus irrelevant.
B) I'm jumping on the partisan band wagon? How is that? All I did was point out that illegal immigration was irrelevant in the context of the forced inoculation debate. I didn't even voice an oppinion on the overall subject.

You're making things up again.

I wasn't real thrilled with the linked article. All it did was call out a number with nothing to scale it against.

A real quick search brought up an estimate of three years worth of rain like this would be needed to make up for the drought and also had some other ways of relating what 11 trillion gallons actually means as precipitation received is traditionally measured in inches.

"Strategic board games ("eurogames")": Eurogames are strategy board games done in a European style. There is also an American style and you can often tell the difference pretty quickly. Basically, Eurogames are a sub genre of strategy board games. They are deffinitly not the same thing.

"Settlers of Catan, you've probably heard about, but that was just the game which enabled the genre; honored for it, but otherwise left behind as a deeply flawed example of what a truly strategic board game should be"

Well for starters strategy board games were an established genre since at least the 70's while settlers came out in the 90's I beleive. The one thing that Settlers did was to bring a strategy board game to the masses that is both easily accessible and contains a reasonable amount of strategic planning. It's a great starting point for these games. As for it being deeply flawed, all I can think of is that some more hard core board gamers don't like it because it's too lite but that's what makes it so great as a starting point for people. Plus sometimes it's nice to play a nice lite social game

If the video games you play are strategy ones, especially turned based like Civ, then there's a good likelihood you'll like strategy board games (which is what he's basically talking about although, as mentioned above, he's way off about Settlers and time lines)

If you're an FPS player the odds are a bit less but there could still be some appeal. I've been surprised by some of the people my friends and I have gotten into these games. Really it's the social dynamic that makes it great. Any time you can get a bunch of friends around a table doing something fun together you've got a good time
