Comment Taking lead from the Republican-right to extreme (Score 0) 981

Texas conservatives have seized control of the state Board of Education, using it as a platform to rewrite education standards to reflect a more conservative, "Godly" point of view and to demand that textbooks be rewritten to conform with those standards.

Comment Xprivacy fixes that (Xposed Framework) (Score 3, Insightful) 249

I use Xpivacy which is a module add on to Xposed Framework to control permissions now. Have been using it for sometime. Allows using something like the Facebook app without allowing it all of the permissions it thinks it neededs.

Not really sure what Google is thinking though. There needs to be more fine control of permissions not less.

Comment B-Folders (Score 1) 445

Windows, Android pretty sure there is an iPhone version. keep it sync'd and use a complicated password. 3 shots at the password and the database is wiped. A website accounts are random generated different passwords for each site. No two sites has the same password. Most don't have the same user account. Also good for devices, and other info where you need to keep notes, date purchased, sn, license keys, setup info etc...

Comment Without Amazon Prime Video on Android? (Score 1) 298

If they release Amazon Prime Video for other Android devices, most likely I would not mind. I take advantage of it enough for shipping to make it worth while.

Yes you can get it on an Amazon Android device like Kindle Fire etc... but I'm not going to buy one of those (actually my wife has one). I have a Nexus 7 and a Samsung Galaxy Note 3, neither have Amazon Prime video available for them. I don't even use Amazon prime video for that reason. Would be nice for GoogleChrome to access it as well.

Comment Simple: Android permissions are not fine enough (Score 2) 293

Simple. They want to be able to get a status from SMS text and the only way to get that is to get permission to the SMS Messages. There is no finer permission level in Android to just give them what they need without access to the rest.

I just block that access since I don't want to use their messaging anyway. Blocked with Root, Xposed Framework, XPrivacy to control which permissions I want to allow them to have.

Comment Historical Archives? (Score 1) 79

I have a number of historical archives to provide reference to what was being said and done back in the past rather than having that info disappear forever. they are not really web pages but rather web access to mailing lists etc...

I get requests to update the sites in them all the time, but have them set as read-only so keep the context under which they were written. So some of the web links included don't go anywhere any more but the main body of the text is valid for that period of time.
