Then again, with a sliding scale for tickets I would suspect that cops would be encouraged to pull over nicer cars more often than beaters. After all, why spend your time writing out $150 speeding tickets when you can write one out for $15000....
A lot depends on the details of the situation. I was lucky enough to be in a class with about 7 extremely intelligent students. I learned with them, bounced ideas off them, and competed with them. I feel this was the most important part of my public education. No teacher (home or school) could have replicated the experience and extra learning I obtained from my peers. Of course, I'm sure there are many more who lose the dice roll and end up with a bunch of neanderthals in their class.
Well, I did find this statistic on Wikipedia. "In a 2010 Gallup survey, 41.6% of Americans said that they attended church or synagogue once a week or almost every week." That seems fairly significant to me.
The good news is that you gave me a plan for tonight. That bad news is that you are saying I might be depressed.
I discussed this type of thing with my wife prior to getting married. She understands that if (for some reason) I was asked to participate in a manned space mission that I will be going regardless of the prospects for my safe return. I don't think the idea is that preposterous.
Right. Only kids with parents able to pay should be able to go to college. Your snowflakes are clearly more special than the snowflakes born to poor parents. Kids with parents who work low paying jobs should just follow their parents into the same low paying jobs. Kids with parents who don't have jobs should just continue that trend. Who needs upward mobility in a society. The Caste System worked great for a very long time.

There are helmets out there that are supposed to help prevent concussions such as The Riddel Revolution Speed. The players seem to not want to wear them for one reason or another.
I really am not sure if using Facebook would be a positive thing or not. However, there are a lot of discussions about how schools are failing to leverage technology to help students learn and teachers teach. Is cutting off a possible tool really the smartest thing to do?
On the other hand, the reason for most people's belief is probably "I was born and raised with Religion X so that is what I believe." That doesn't appear to be Analytical or Critical thinking.
To be fair, there are plenty of people who have their children skip vaccines on the word of Jenny Mccarthy. People will listen to whatever advice sounds good to them.
We are about halfway between XP/Server2003 and Win7/Server2008 R2. I get pretty bummed out every time I have to deal with the XP/Server 2003 boxes. I can say a lot of bad stuff about Microsoft, but their current operating systems are pretty darn good.
As much as I despise the anti-vaccine crowd, I have a problem with making vaccination a criminal issue. Once we open the door for "You will put this chemical in your/your offspring's body because the government says you must", a very frightening precedent will be set.
I'm going with "Gay people have a genetic disorder. We have to cure the gays of their gayness!"
By "cure" they will mean "throw into a vat of boiling oil" or "press them with rocks" in an attempt to burn or squeeze the gay out of them. It is a fail safe solution. None of the subjects displayed symptoms of being gay after "treatment".
This "Give me your password" technique should be used in hiring. Especially in Network Engineering/Admin type positions.
HR Person: "Please provide your login credentials for Facebook."
Candidate: "Here you go."
HR Person: "You FAIL."
After all if you are willing to hand over your personal passwords to some random HR person, can you really be trusted with root passwords/domain admin passwords?
