Pilots board aircraft that are unsafe a great deal of the time. You know why, because they don't know. They don't inspect every last component, look over every last engineering log, and ensure every last person who looked at the plane is competent. When you get profit in the mix, safety is not one of the chief concerns, only perception of safety is. Even with both pressures now, gov and insurance, airlines still are caught cutting corners now and then.

Would it help Apple, no, at best it is neutral to this case. The issue Samsung is trying to make is that Apple allowed licensing of their patents to HTC, but refuses out of hand to do the same for them. I'm not sure how much that helps Samsung even if true though, as patent law confuses me greatly probably because it is so broken at the moment.

Pretty easily actually. Giant endless featureless flat plane... don't even need the character's current coordinates, because they are irrelevant, as nothing noticeably changes as you move around the plane. Only if you demand that the environment cannot repeat do you require infinite memory, but infinite itself does not require that restriction.

Yeah, the only problem with that is, one can't calculate the costs to provide the necessities, because what is necessary can vary from person to person, and even if it didn't, the cost of said necessities varies both over the course of a year, and geographically (housing in particular can vary by huge amounts depending on the city). In fact the whole convoluted tax system is based around acknowledging this (things like tax credits for kids, that's an acknowledgement that providing for a child is a necessity that varies between people) so the pressure is to go right back to the current system.

The Wii has a big library of cheap games, many of which are perfect for children and have local multi-player. The fact that there's barely anything new coming out doesn't change that.

No, but the fact you can get all that with a WiiU plus more does. That's the point, at this point in time the Wii is not worth the price when you can get a WiiU. As to PS2, I wouldn't make the same argument as PS3 can't play PS2 games (at least the current ones can't). However, I still wouldn't recommend PS2 to someone. It is simply too old at this point and kids would likely view it as insulting to get such unless they specifically requested it.

It's cliché, but true. What games are they interested in? Do you play multiplayer games and are you willing to pay for Xbox Live Gold subscription? Do you have a media room set up that is good for Kinect? 360 shares most of it's software line up with PS3 so if those are the games you're playing little point in getting it (it would be quite a different situation if you didn't already have the PS3). For Kids, Kinect may be a good value, but that depends if you actually have the room to use it properly. 360 is cheap but if you're playing multiplayer you have to factor in the subscription too. As to Wii, I would steer clear. It is dead in the water software wise, and overpriced even for what it is. Wii U, hard to say at this point how it will fair but it probably be a better choice than a Wii especially as it has all of Wii's functionality save Gamecube game support.

I'd like to know how they are going to go about detecting such, without incurring complaints that they aren't outright blocking such. If it is just 'you're using bittorrent' then they are also blocking lots of legitimate bittorrents (including a major MMO). If it is just detecting connection to known pirate sites, why don't they just block them outright?

I would say, white space rules are definitely important, but not the only style stuff that may be important. Standard variable naming conventions can also greatly help, as can keeping certain common code structure being all done in the same manner. Both of these can make it much easier to find things. The question is where is the point where standard style starts to become more an exercise in keeping to the style rather than getting the work done.
