GoldenEye Source Conversion Mod Released 105

tekgoblin writes "Were you a fan of the original GoldenEye on the N64? Well, this Half-Life 2 mod called GoldenEye Source, five years in the making, has just come out of beta and been fully released for free. The game is a creation of fans with the objective to bring the original experiences from GoldenEye on the N64 back to life. I remember spending hours upon hours playing GoldenEye on the N64, and was sad seeing it go."

...because in my opinion it's lame. The price to go see a film is already ridiculous and now they want to make everything more expensive to see for a few moments that may or may not enhance the experience based on your viewpoint. Not only that but it still requires you to wear glasses for the entirety of the film. No thank you.

I bought an original at launch and the when it died they sent me a new one for free. When that died they sent another one for free and when that died they wouldn't help any further and I said good riddance.

Did I state I would again be a 1st generation adopter of anything they make? Where did you read that? I'm saying if they make a really nice piece of hardware that proves itself and is a market leader I may purchase it. As for now we are happy with our PC and original PS3 which has never given us any issues.

You sure make a lot of assumptions but I guess I shouldn't expect any less from an Anonymous Coward Clown.

Dan, not all models run as you describe unfortunately. I went through 3 originals that MS replaced and they all were loud and as hot as hell disc or no disc. When the third one died and MS wouldn't replace I gave up. Maybe I'll try one of the new models some day but I'll probably just wait until the next-generation. Hopefully MS can do a lot better with the first round of hardware this time.

"...The only major catch is that it can't be the only set-top — you'll need at least one DVR at another TV in the house to enjoy one of the four HD streams that could be funneled into your home."

This lead me back to the fact that it's still AT&T and they will never get another penny from this guy.

Submission + - Leaked E-mails Show Barwinska Case 'Shaky' (torrentfreak.com) 1

Khyber writes: "More perusal of the recently-leaked ACS:Law e-mails have shown that the 2008 Isabella Barwinska case was built upon rather dubious grounds. This is starting to look worse for 'Pay up or else' litigation firms that have begun popping up across the world, as it shows that there is no real solid foundation behind the exorbitant damages awarded to the copyright holders, which are employing firms using the Barwinska case as a strong-arm tactic to scare people into payment."

Submission + - Sony Lawsuits Targeting PS3 Jailbreak Authors (ps3news.com)

StikyPad writes: PS3News is reporting that Sony's latest legal salvo is targeting the creators of PS JailBreak, PSFreedom and PSGroove related PS3 hacks, citing numerous court documents (login required) for those interested.

From one of the documents: 'Having considered the Motion for Expedited Discovery of Plaintiff Sony Computer Entertainment America LLC (oeSCEA) [...] the Court hereby grants SCEA’s Motion. IT IS HEREBY ORDERED that [...] SCEA has leave to serve similarly targeted subpoenas or deposition notices to any other third party who SCEA learns may be involved in the distribution or sale of the oePS Jailbreak software, known as, for example, "PSGroove," "OpenPSJailbreak," and "PSFreedom," or who may have knowledge of the distribution or sale of this software.'

Submission + - EA Sports MMA Demo Impressions (rundlc.com)

Buffalo55 writes: It would appear that EA Sports would love nothing more (aside from finishing NBA Elite 11) than to knockout THQ and its popular UFC series with its own fighting game, the aptly titled EA Sports MMA. For months, we’ve seen screens and watched impressive videos of the game in action. Now the demo’s available on Xbox Live now and PlayStation Network this evening, and while it has some question marks, the publisher could be on its way to octagonal supremacy. Or at the very least, make its rival extremely nervous.

Submission + - What's your preferred Office Suite?

dawning writes: Since 1998 I've used LibreOffice (formerly OpenOffice, formerly StarOffice) to meet my Word Processing & Spreadsheet needs. MS Office has a rich feature set, but the price is nothing short of robbery for the typical user (if you're in to Macros, Access and so on, then yeah, MS Office FTW).

Now with Google Docs very well established & freely providing outstanding extras (such as brilliant collaboration tools, web app deployment & cloud storage), I'm more baffled than ever by how many seem desperately married to the first way they learned to do things. It seems people are violently opposed to new ideas. I even recall olympic swimming pools-of-tears when Microsoft innovated with their 2007 UI.

Tell me Slashdoters, why do people hate change more than saving money or improving productivity? Am I (and mine) some sort of freak-human for even caring that other's continue to pay for a "solved" piece of software? Or am I missing something?

What is your Word Processor/Spreadsheet suite of choice?
