Comment No firmware updates possible? (Score 1) 183

It's not just the network, it's the software. My Epic 4G is notoriously terrible at 4G-->3G fallback, just severing connections and not restoring them. So, question 1: Can they patch the firmware to switch these phones to LTE ? (let me guess, fuck no) question 2: oh nevermind, I'm depressed now

Comment Cause - Consequence link is the problem (Score 1) 872

There isn't a question about climate change. There's a question about the cause ====> consequence link when it comes to HUMAN impact on the climate. Sun is a very powerful external source of energy, and Earth has been going through climate change cycles forever. So, do the scientists have any solid scientific data that links, without doubt, HUMANS as being the overwhelming reason for climate change? Because if not, then fuck them - I want my plastic shopping bags back.

Comment Ideas ? Where we're going, we don't need ideas. (Score 0) 351

Videogames are an interactive medium. A trailer is not a convincing means of portraying working gameplay mechanics. I'm sorry to say, but ideas are a dime a dozen, even if you can make a video out of them. Unless you can make a convincing video of a continuous chunk of mock-up gameplay, that proves without the shadow of a doubt that your "original" gameplay mechanics actually work, it's kind of a crapshoot.

Submission + - Wii caught the xbox 360

LucidLion writes: As reported here and according to the vgchartz, in less than a year the Wii has overtaken the XBox 360 and has become the fasted selling console ever. From the article:

The news marks the first time that Nintendo has been the leader in both the home console and handheld markets since 1994 when the company's Super NES and Game Boy lines reigned supreme. Currently, the DS and Wii are the top two selling system's in the industry.
With the way it's selling, any drought in Wii games probably won't last long.

Submission + - Video Games, The Handicapped, And Hospital Abuse (nypost.com)

Technopulp writes: "Chris Saglimbene is a gamer. Thanks to the ravages of cerebral palsy, he will never walk, but he smiles a toothy grin as he looks over the back of his motorized wheelchair. He just hit a line drive, playing MLB: The Show on his PlayStation 2. Video games are his escape. For now, he can forget that he's inherited a train wreck of a body. Chris says that video games center and anchor him. When critics attack video games, they are attacking Chris. Even broadsides against violent content are nothing more than "bull" according to him.
