Submission + - Why Linux Mint 17.1 Missed It's Mark (dedoimedo.com) 1

NeoGeo64 writes: From memory leaks to general glitchiness, Linux Mint 17.1 isn't quite up to par with previous releases. Why is this? In the following story, one techie attempts to discover why. What do you all think? Have any of you experienced memory leaks or other strange bugs in Mint 17.1?

Comment WHY?? (Score -1) 640

With Windows 8 faltering and 10 not here yet (and may still suck!) why, OH WHY, would Microsoft do this? Windows 7 is all they've got. That's the only good OS. And they halfway kill it this week. *sigh* Back to my Linux installation. I ditched Windows last year.

Comment AMD Driver + Linux Mint 17.1 = HUGE Memory Leak (Score 0) 136

I run Linux Mint 17.1 and tried using the AMD driver for my AMD Radeon 7570. It caused a huge memory leak. I am again using the X.org drivers. They don't perform as well for 3D but it's all that's available to me. I am bummed out, too. The AMD drivers looked promising and I was getting much improved frame rates in Nexuiz. Like, from 20FPS to 65FPS kind of improvement. I really wish that memory leak would get fixed.

Journal Journal: Switching to Linux only!

So, I've got my Linux box up and running now. I'm running Mint 17.1 only - there is no Microsoft on my computer. Feels really nice to have a better, free alternative to Windows.
