Submission + - Perl Survey (perlsurvey.org)

thefotios writes: "The Perl Survey is attempting to take a snapshot of the Perl world as it currently stands. Whether you're a web developer, sysadmin, or using Perl for scientific research or finance or just tracking your DVD collection, we'd love to hear about it.

We're trying to answer questions like:

        * Where do Perl programmers come from?
        * What sort of fields do they work in?
        * What languages — computer and spoken — do Perl programmers use?
        * How many use Perl as their primary language?
        * What proportion of Perl users participate in the Perl community through mailing lists, user groups, and conferences?

It only takes about 5 minutes to complete.

The survey will be open until September 30th, 2007. After that, we'll be
reporting on the results and making the data freely available."

Submission + - Should I worry about my employment contract?

An anonymous reader writes: I was preparing to accept a software developer job at a California company and was put off by the contract which claimed ownership of any ideas I create (on my own time or at the company) during my stay at the company and required me to inform them of any ideas (related to the company or not) during my employment and for a year afterwards. I found references to a couple instances where this became a legal problem for the developer. Is this something to worry about?

Submission + - Largest. Anti-Spam. Suit. Ever.

Jim Manico writes: "I'm grateful to the fine gentlemen at Project Honeypot. They are about to file the largest anti-spam lawsuit in the history of the internets. "The suit will be filed in U.S. District Court in Alexandria on behalf of Project Honey Pot, a service of Unspam Technologies LLC, a Utah-based anti-spam company that consults with private companies and government agencies."
