Actually this maybe changing for some programing shops. In the Agile training I took one of the rules was do not work more the 40 hours a week. Sure for a crunch now and then you may have to go over but if you do more than two weeks at over 40 something is wrong.

Of course it is all possible but it is not at the level of just works for most people.

Just out of curiosity, how did you manage to keep that one alive so long?

I too kept re-adding that slashbox and dice kept removing it for the past couple months.
I finally decided last week to stop fighting it and just use my bookmark instead of first visiting slashdot and then hitting the freecode slashbox title once I reached the end of the /. stories.

I really hope Dice wasn't counting freecode visitors based on how many people fought with them over removing that box, and I was the deciding counter :P

For over 10 years I've always dedicated at Least 15 minutes of each day for going down the new updates on freecode / freshmeat.
In fact there was 3 pages worth of updates posted between this morning when I last checked and Monday evening the time I checked before last.

That almost seems like more projects listed than slashdot lists articles in the same time frame :P

Thinking back, I've actually checked freecode nearly daily (at least during the week, though I did this weekend too) all the way back to a short hospital stay I had about 4 weeks back when I was offline completely for a few days.
There was literally not a single day that went by without at least a full page of freecode updates posted.

And while I can't really be sure, it sure feels to me like the number of updates posted each day hasn't declined in the last year, even if the posting frequency went from 3-4 times a day down to the 1 time a day it's dropped to in the past couple months. But that one time a day update posted just as many new and updated projects as one would get before as far as I can recall.

I just simply can't believe this is really due to "low traffic" when traffic is defined as most of us use the term.
I'm pretty sure what they meant to say was "low ad income" instead...

I would love to have an option for the phone to use a GPS built into the car and the antenna. In theory it should be better than the tiny one they have to fit in your phone. Also it would be good if could have access to the AM, FM, and Satellite radio systems and can control them.
I would also like to see it have access to the things like MPG data.

And the things that Google "forces" android handset makers is frankly what customers want.
Google started making handset makers to do make GMS and all or nothing service when a handset maker put on all sorts of Google apps but made the search BING and locked it down!
Some companies choose not to use GMS but still use Android like Amazon.
AOSP plus GMS == the Android must consumers want.

Compared to IOS, BlackberryOS, and WP Android is as free as can be. If you want source to everything but the GMS apps just run Cyanogen. You can even add in the GMS apps if you want them or just run Outlook, YahooMail, or a FOSS mailclient for mail, and the mapping software of your choice.

In the US you own the airspace up to about 500 feet over your land so it should be completely legal if done safely. AKA don't do it over people.

It is accurate and misleading at the same time. People think of drones as military style drones while small RC aircraft are usually called RC models and have been for decades. The AMA is not happy about the use of word drone because they have had a very good relationship with the FAA up till now.
As to RC aircraft with cameras. I remember reading about people putting cameras on RC planes back in the 70s. Of course that was in the days of film.

You are forgetting the other part of the equation.
The working poor do not have a lot of time to cook. High fat and salt foods taste good and are fast to cook. A really good healthy meal often takes more time to prepare so that it is tasty.
The fast food places do not prey on the poor with their $1.00 menu. They offer fast calories. BTW salt does not make you fat. It is good to limit your salt but it is the calories in the food that make you fat.
Honestly most of the working poor I see are not overweight at all.

Most printer vendors these days offer a feature to print from the internet, and they figure (correctly I suspect) it's easier to have the printer connect out and poll than to explain how to port forward something through a home router to the average customer.

HP for example assigns the printer an email address on one of their domains, and the printer just polls the mailbox.

I suppose under the asumption one wants such a feature, this is the better way to go about it...
