Why does it have to be a new currency? Why can't we have digital USD that can be transmitted this easily without the use of credit cards?

Right now it's valued at $730, 2 weeks ago it was $200 and a few months ago it crashed.

I guess I never really noticed that this was a Canadian specific thing. Seems I wrongfully assumed the US banking system had something similar.
