Submission + - Microsoft raises Vista and Office support fees

PetManimal writes: "Microsoft has increased the prices it charges for tech support to customers who own full retail versions of Vista and Office. Microsoft used to grant unlimited support to customers with problems installing Office or Windows for as long as they used the software, and they could get help on two additional incidents of any kind for free. After that, support was $35 per incident. As of January 30, unlimited support expires after 90 days after activation. Thereafter, customers needing help will have to pay $59 per Vista incident, and $49 for Office assistance. The article says Microsoft believed its prices were 10 years out of date, and were cheaper than support fees charged by Geek Squad, CompUSA's TechPros, and Circuit City's Firedog."
