Feed Kingston planning to reveal DDR3 HyperX RAM, SSD at Computex (engadget.com)

Last last year, Kingston unveiled its then-blazing fast HyperX DDR2 RAM modules, and just as you're finally paying those couple of 2GB kits off, the same company is apparently planning to up the ante. Reportedly, Kingston is looking to reveal its DDR3 1500MHz HyperX and DDR2 800MHz low latency memory modules at Computex, which should play nicely with Intel's DDR3-friendly Bearlake chipset. The DIMMs are expected to be "nearly twice as fast (over 20Gbps) as today's highest speed DDR2 counterparts," and the lower voltage (1.5v compared to 1.8v) claims to provide a "more efficient memory solution for both mobile and server platforms." Aside from the newfangled 512MB / 1GB RAM modules, attendees may also catch a whiff of the company's purported plans to jump in on the flash-based hard drive game. Kingston's Australia and New Zealand regional manager Vaughan Nankivell was quoted as saying that the outfit has "looked at some of the early adopters and were keen to follow suit." Of course, pricing and availability deets weren't fleshed out just yet, but the second week in June isn't too far away.

Submission + - Mini-Jets Set to Revolutionize Civilian Aviation

longacre writes: A new class of aircraft known as Very Light Jets (VLJs) is close to takeoff and could result in a giant leap forward in private aviation. The sub-10,000 lb planes carry 2 to 6 passengers (plus 2 pilots) up to 450 mph and as high as airliner altitudes of 41,000 feet. The price range: only $1.5 to $4 million, which is about half that of a current entry-level biz-jet. Popular Mechanics examines the advances in engine technology that make these low-cost fliers possible — the Diamond D-Jet, for example, uses a derivative of the ultra-high thrust-to-weight ratio engine found in Tomahawk cruise missiles. Also, a breakdown of the VLJ offerings from aviation giants Cessna and Embraer, the notable HondaJet, and others from smaller concerns such as Eclipse Aviation. The theoretical next step: the Extremely Light Jet, which could carry 2 passengers 250 mph for the price of a Bentley.

Game Site Space For $$ 41

Wagner James Au writes "Thought y'all would be interested in part two of my 'Preview Ho' series for Kotaku -- in it, a media buyer tells me how Gamespot and Gamespy sells editorial space on their sites to big publishers for thousands of dollars. In other words, the games you see on the front pages of those sites are often there because publishers paid for that privilege. In their defense, Gamespy's Vice President of Content Publishing tells me the practice is 'pretty common both in print and online'." Nothing surprising here, but it's interesting to see it laid out like this.

Hundreds Line Up For DS Lite 51

The launch of the newest version of Nintendo's DS handheld has seen hundreds of Japanese gamers line up for the privilege of owning one. From the IGN article: "With such an early sellout, it should come as no surprise that retailers had to turn people away. IGN noticed a steady stream of people arriving at shops, seeing the line, confirming that the DS was indeed impossible to get, then leaving. Some got in line anyway, perhaps in the hope that a few extra units would be available at the end." Update: 03/02 15:46 GMT by Z : Gamasutra spells out that the DS Lite has sold out after only a short time on the Japanese market.

Journal Journal: Prime user number

I just realized that my user number is not a prime! This not means that I thought at some point that it was one, just that some post made me think about it, look it up in google, and not, it is not a prime number...this sucks. Prime numbers are the best... Check if your user number is a prime too!
