Submission + - Windows ignores microsoft.com in hosts file

An anonymous reader writes: If you try to block microsoft.com in your hosts file, windows will just ignore the entry. On Vistas Windows Defender even steps in and tries to stop you from adding microsoft.com to the hosts file, but even if you ignore Defender microsoft.com will still work as if the entry wasn't there.

When I installed Fedora 4, I always had a hard freeze when accessing the US robotics modem (full V.90 modem in an 8 bit ISA card). And ever since Fedora 2 the serial port mouse never worked out of the box. Other distros did not have those issues.

Gnome's Nautilus Gets ZFS Integration, In OpenSolaris 38

13bpower writes "Sun developer Erwann Chenede posted a new plugin for Nautilus that will integrate ZFS's backup capabilities with Nautilus. This should be a pretty killer feature." As one of the comments puts it, this adds a "Time Machine-esque" function to Solaris, through which a user can specify backup frequency, and when needed browse from available snapshots to restore files.
