Under the terms of the agreement, the Asperger’s sufferer would be guaranteed bail before facing a trial in the U.S. for hacking into military computers. If found guilty, he would be immediately transferred back to Britain to serve out any custodial term."

jaymzter writes: An ex-Fannie Mae contractor has been indicted for allegedly writing a script to wipe 4000 of Fannie Mae's servers. Had it done so, Fannie Mae engineers expect it would have caused millions of dollars in damage and possibly shut down the government-sponsored mortgage lender for a week. The script was set to run two days from now, and was accidentally discovered by one of the Unix administrators.

jaymzter writes: In yet another salvo in the battle between media, science, and money, Reid Bryson, known as the "Father of Climatology", is quoted as questioning the consensus on global warming. Among other factors, he claims money is at the root of the current state of affairs: "There is a lot of money to be made in this," he added. "If you want to be an eminent scientist you have to have a lot of grad students and a lot of grants. You can't get grants unless you say, 'Oh global warming, yes, yes, carbon dioxide.'"
