I use my laptop for heavy web browsing with thousands of tabs open in Firefox, and the shitbox would slow down to a crawl with "only" 4 GB and a conventional HD, so for me an SSD was a necessity. I put a Samsung 840 Pro in this thing last year (or was it the year before?) and it has been the best money I've ever spent on computer hardware. According to SMART I'm at 6.8 TB of writes, over 5400 power on hours, and just clicked over 2000 startup cycles, with zero errors or problems of any kind. Many others seem to have had similar positive experiences with these drives. From all indications, this drive will probably last another 10-15+ years easily. The only thing I can see killing it is an EMP burst.
