Submission + - RIAA Faces Possible Class-Action Suit (variety.com)
DreadfulGrape writes: "Can a disabled, single mom take down the RIAA? Variety.com reports that the trade organization everybody loves to hate is facing a potential class action lawsuit as a result of its aggressive anti-customer tactics. From the article: "The case — filed in Oregon and asserting claims under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act and the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organization Act — details the RIAA's alleged use of 'illegal and flawed' methods when investigating people for downloading or swapping copyrighted songs without paying for them." While there is no guarantee that class-action status will be granted to the case, it has the potential to be one of the strongest rebuttals yet to the record business' trade organization."
