Submission + - Fabulous MIT Software Makes Selfies Professional Portraits
Ajay Anand writes: Researchers at MIT have developed this cool algorithm (PDF) to convert humble snaps to dramatic images in a way such that style of any professional photographer can be mimicked. It uses dense mapping between a given selfie and an example portrait using 66 facial features and turns the selfie into a similar looking portrait.
Quoting the authors, "Headshot portraits are a popular subject in photography but to achieve a compelling visual style requires advanced skills that a casual photographer will not have ... We introduce a technique to transfer the style of an example headshot photo onto a new one. This can allow one to easily reproduce the look of renowned artists." Link to the video. MIT news link.
