Submission + - Name and Postcode required for Blogging in Sth Aus (news.com.au)

An anonymous reader writes: SOUTH Australia has become one of the few states in the world to censor the internet.

The new law, which came into force on January 6, requires internet bloggers, and anyone making a comment on next month's state election, to publish their real name and postcode when commenting on the poll.

The law will affect anyone posting a comment on an election story on The Advertiser's AdelaideNow website, as well as other news sites such as The Punch, the ABC's The Drum and Fairfax newspapers' National Times site.

Submission + - Google Chrome's Market Share On A Fast Rise (pcmag.com)

adeelarshad82 writes: After passing Apple's Safari just a month ago to become third most widely used Web browser, Google's Chrome browser has now topped the 5% mark. Chrome was the top gainer during the period, with more than a half percentage point increase, rising from 4.63 percent in December to 5.20 percent in January. The raving reviews the new version of the browser has gotten is part of the reason for this, the inclusion of extensions has made the browser favorable to many others now. Apple's Safari also gained, but only by a tenth as much as Chrome, moving from 4.46 percent to 4.51 percent. Internet Explorer continues to shed market share, dropping from 62.69 percent to 62.18, while Firefox lost just 0.2 percent, ending January with 24.41 percent.

IRV is a good candidate, but it has its own problems. The big flaw IIRC is that in some cases it is better to put your favorite candidate in the number 2 spot to increase his chances of winning.

I call bs on that one. I have voted IRV in Australia all my adult life and I have never heard a candidate say 'vote 2 for me!'.

Maybe in american football. In Rugby Union or League when I played the only protective equipment I had was a mouthguard.

So now we have a mess where the x86 platform is not perfect yet because MS refuses to do anything to make Windows work on other platforms

MS made NT work on alpha but not many used it so it died and I guess they don't want to waste all those resources again.

They have also made windows work on Itanium and x86-64.
