i think the problem is that apple and google thought ok, we make something new, battery saving, optimized for low ram and whatnot and microsoft said wait, we want to be in that market aswell, but we take our windows and make it somehow useable. and we force our loyal desktop users to us that aswell.
that comes along with the troubles with updates on these devices, flash usage, energy consumption

avoid them! a friend of mine is having just problems with it. dead pixels, bad touchpad...

the title could have been aswell : " why is windows wasting so much flash memory on my tablet??"
or "why is windows having the worst update system on tablets and smartphones?"

...because it's old and bloated!

sorry, forgot: but i think it's like linus said: society is moving to a more relaxed way of living (as far as i remember). this should help is not because of some greedy, super rich people.

really?? even if you don't jailbreak it? i thought this is the big advantage of an android phone. and the other being: using it as a usb stick, on any (not even authorized itunes) computer and put and document, pdf, photo, mp3, mp4, avi, etc. on it without any conversion?

oh, i forgot to write that i think that "selling services" only works, if people actually WANT them and not if they are forced to use them because they are industry standard.

Anybody ever enjoyed windows8 updates on telephones? no?? let me explain: downloading update (a few minutes, even over wlan), preparing for update (some minutes), restarting and installing (again a few minutes), restarting and making "after updates cleanups"! argh, i am so glad it wasn't my phone! the best thing was: after the hole proccess there was another update, but then i left the tragedy.
