The bug may allow hackers to remotely seize control of iPhones by using SMS text messages. "If you receive a text message on your iPhone any time after Thursday afternoon containing only a single square character, Charlie Miller would suggest you turn the device off. Quickly."
A similar vulnerability is reported to exist on devices running Windows mobile software.
