Ummmm, I think there are zero serious scientific studies that claim that climate change isn't occurring. Most people are aware that the climate has always been changing. You know, ice ages and so forth.

You know what I find hilarious? Just for making this observation, many people will peg me as a "climate change denier".

How about:

* Protocols of the Elders of Zion
* The Turner Diaries
* Anarchist's Cookbook
* Or one of these fine titles

Make no mistake, I'm not endorsing any of these books. Just pointing out that there's nothing either heroic or difficult about recommending historically banned books that aren't banned anymore, and in fact are widely read in public high schools. However, if a student was caught today reading some of the above books, they might be directed to remedial counselling and in some cases be expelled. Heck, every now and then a kid in the news draws a picture of a gun in school, or eat their slice of bread into the shape of a gun, and is suspended. If you want to highlight today's censorship, that's a much more fruitful area to harp about than a bunch of books that were occasionally banned 50 or 100 years ago.

These IOCCC conferences always come up with more and more global warming alarmism, hurricane warnings, hockey sticks, polar bear extinctions, and the list goes on. Can't they give it a rest? And what about this pause, why don't they talk about that?

Certainly it would be unfair of me to say that all of my professors had a stilted and artificially narrow grading process. Some of them were very much as you describe and no doubt put a lot of effort into doing it right. Cheers!

I have dealt with App Store rejections on various projects, and it was quite a culture shock coming from the desktop development world. In many ways it reminded me of college. Giving the right answer is not important per se, but rather just providing the answer you know the professor/grader wants to hear. As a programmer, it rankles me for someone else to dictate major issues of app architecture that touch on quality in a debatable way.

But it's their way or the highway if you want to sell to iOS users. And yes, you do want to sell to iOS users. Android users never spend any money. /slight-exaggeration

Even that is problematic. When people debate the most contentious issues, they tend to talk past each other and just repeat their side's talking points -- which are meaningless to the other side, due to lacking a common frame of reference in the debate. Bottom line, it would be way too easy to say that someone you disagree with is "unwilling to debate or defend that opinion" even though the other person thinks they are doing exactly that. It's almost like certain abstract topics themselves are the trolls, and both of the people are along for the ride in such a conversation.

I think moderators flagged this post before reading the whole thing -- the troll bits are obviously humor and the second half does express a serious and on-topic opinion.

In my state, only one party needs to be aware of a recorded conversation, and it's perfectly fine for that to be the person doing the recording.

Forgot to mention: any official policy that the US would disclose the purchased security vulnerabilities would be a sham. They would undoubtedly hang onto the most important/useful ones for some period of time. Lying is not an aberration at the TLA's, it's more like their job description.

Interesting. At least I don't have false negatives on my Yahoo account, as I get hundreds per day. I don't take the time to look for false positives, and I agree that would stink.
