As for your separate NT list, it's also nonsensical, as of XP, consumer OS = NT, so there is no need for a separate list. 2k3 has no business on the list, since server wise there is not a general pattern that is at all similar to the end user OS versions. Newer is generally always the better server version after initial kinks and patches, because the reliability of the security is of utmost importance.

I live in a city that contracts out everything but the most emergency of repairs for sewer work, the private contractors take longer and leave the areas they work in fucked up every-single-time. We have a mile of road that was ripped up and repiped by contractors, after it was done the road was littered with dips and potholes and they are having to completely dig up and repave the entire road now as a result. Contracting is about making money off government and doing it as cheaply as possible.

The idea that Microsoft's ecosystem of applications isn't full of junkware suggests you being willfully ignorant of reality to make your argument sound better. Keyboard/mouse/monitor on Android is actually useful if you have ever done it for any amount of time beyond just playing with it.

Having a phone that runs all your necessary apps is what this is about, and Microsoft's boat has already sunk in that arena. It's play catchup for 10 years and hope they can, and in the mean time you can expect more disruptive tech to arrive on the scene that their monolithic org won't be able to adapt quickly enough for.

So, to be clear, you are saying that Illinois is in a much stronger position economically than Indiana or Wisconsin? I think if you're going to make that claim you probably need to provide some data that explains how it was arrived at. Having lived in IN all my life and worked in IL for over 15 years, I think the "real world" might actually disagree with you. As of a couple years ago when I left, IL was billions in the hole, had massive budget deficits, unfunded liabilities (read: pensions) with no hope of ever being paid for, infrastructure that was either falling apart or being sold off, a laundry list of contractors and vendors threatening to sue because the state couldn't pay for services rendered and massive population exodus. Indiana at the same time had a budget surplus, population growth (largely from people and businesses fleeing IL) and was making plans for serious infrastructure improvements. Even Gary was making a comeback. The only blip I can recall in IN economics was when the steel industry faltered and Bethlehem quit paying their taxes. That situation largely sorted itself out, though.

I can't speak specifically to the state of Wisconsin's economy since I can usually find local places to get cheese, but IL has been teetering on the brink of bankruptcy for years.
