I'm guessing that your wife's family are a sub-set of the rich population, in that they are SELF MADE millionaires as opposed to kids that have always been living rich off of Daddy's money. And they probably got that way by being frugal with their spending. So the conclusion I would draw from your example is that the "the way to BECOME rich is to save your money and stop blowing it."

- (in)accuracy of science: Yes, science comes up with some crazy ideas, some right and some wrong. That's part of the scientific process. A history of evolving ideas does not disprove all scientific conclusions.

- evolution: Evolution is a change in _frequency_ of genetic elements _over_time_ and operates by many different mechanisms (natural selection, mate selection, selective breeding, etc). Evolution does have the ability to gradually change the function of one appendage to another function. It does not suddenly morph a turnip into a dog.

My pay stub says I'm #25... I think that's counting since the payroll system was initiated. My parking permit says I'm #5... apparently I was the 5th person to get a parking pass. At the time I joined the company, I increased the number of employees from 3 to 4. So what am I?

My Fujitsu laptop got a RAM upgrade, but no other replacement parts before the screen went wacko. The left half of the screen would randomly decide to go fuzzy (like static on a TV), and the right side of the screen was shifted to the left a bit, chopping out roughly one character worth of pixels. I got used to only using the right half of the screen until that part started doing the fuzzy thing also, then checked into replacing the screen and determined that it would be cheaper (and an upgrade) to replace the whole computer.
