Right. It has no integrated circuits. There's no way it doesn't have a computer. It couldn't receive signals and fire its thrusters otherwise.

A collection of discreet electronic components hardly qualifies as a computer.

Um...what was this, then? It wasn't even the first transistorized computer, let alone the first electronic computer (which would've used vacuum tubes to implement logic). It's a rather large "collection of discrete electronic components," with not so much as a 7400 to be found within its cabinets.

Even the smaller collection of components within ISEE-3 is able to act on radio input to control thrusters, instruments, and such, and to route instrument outputs to the transmitter to send them back to Earth. It might not have a general-purpose CPU controlling it, but neither did (for instance) many of the video games that were on the market around the same time it was under development.

We are using AWS for our startup. Our bills are around $2200 a month. $1700 of that is a charge to have dedicated instances instead of shared. this gets us 6 servers - 4 small 2GB RAM web servers and 2 4GB ram DB servers (in reality what we need at the moment, we can scale the DB later when we bottle neck).

We've done the math ourselves and in reality we could probably save some money (face value) or buying servers ourselves and colocating them. But, then you have to add in the maintenance costs, a part time infrastructure support person, downtime, replication, etc. Plus, things like good firewalls, load balancers, are terribly expensive which we didn't factor into the equation.

In reality, it boils down to convenience for us to stick with AWS, though it maybe a slight premium in the end. It simply cuts out a lot of costs having to deal with infrastructure.

Is AWS perfect? No, not really. Any big storm you pray to baby Jesus US-EAST stays up. But, we've been happy so far with it. I'd say all in all it isn't even a premium, factoring in all the costs it is probably break even at this point. But for us we were able to scale from $200 in server costs a month to $2000 a month easily and we can scale to $10000 a month easily. it has its value.

It's normal and natural for someone to feel frustrated when he or she has difficulty finding someone to date. It's normal to feel rejected when you get rejected. It's normal to resent being overlooked.

At one time or another, most if not all people have felt this way.

Because I have a male point of view, I'm going to add that it's normal for men to be frustrated and bewildered by the disconnect between what women say they want in a man and what kind of men they actually date.

Obviously, violence should never result from these feelings. This frustration should be motivation for self improvement.

The response should be more along the lines of "Oh, you're not interested? ok. Take care."

Me, I use the women who ignored me and the bitches who used me as motivation to treat the woman in my life even better.

My point is that being frustrated and angry are alright just so long as you don't cross the line and start hurting people.

SMTP in/out will be blocked so no email servers without ugly hacks and middleware.

Have your SMTP server respond on a non-standard port (such as 588) as well as the standard ports, and you can connect to it from within Cox's network. Auto-configuration in some mail clients makes this a little bit of a pain, but you only have to set it up once.

If you're talking about running a server on their network, they want you to fork over the extra $$$ for business-grade service. I did that for a while, but residential service and a VPS are faster and cheaper.

Even that would not be so bad IF THEY ORGANIZED THEIR FORUMS AND FIXED THE SEARCH FUNCTION.

Most forum software search functionality sucks burro balls. This isn't just an issue for support forums for a product, but web forums in general. In most cases, though, you can use Google (or whoever) to search the forum and get the results you need.

They're taking things from the open source RepRap community and attempting to patent them. Do not support MakerBot.
