nk497 writes: Researchers have added up the world's computing capacity, and it apparently works out to 295 exabytes — or 295 billion gigabytes. The University of Southern California researchers said that includes all the information we can "store, communicate and compute". In 2007, the world sent 1.9 zettabytes of data over broadcast technologies, and 65 exabytes over communications systems, notably cell phones.

An anonymous reader writes: Egyptian plainclothes wearing buzzcut men kidnapped a
google marketing executive yesterday for tweeting about the
government. Google had since opened a telephone to tweet
service. His whereabouts are still unknown.
