gregger writes: This Open Letter to the UN General has been making the rounds of almost every right wing environmental defamation, er... "news" site on the Web. Except FoxNews... huh? Just who are these 100 scientists that are saying that:

In particular, it is not established that it is possible to significantly alter global climate through cuts in human greenhouse gas emissions. On top of which, because attempts to cut emissions will slow development, the current UN approach of CO2 reduction is likely to increase human suffering from future climate change rather than to decrease it.
Now others are joining, and it's oddly sourced out of Canada. What gives?

zeroburn writes: "Afrotechmods has published an interesting mod on how to turn a series of hard drives into a speaker system. Their article features movies of the system in action, and promises that the quality of the audio is actually a lot better than what their camera captured. If you have some spare time (and hard drives!) you can build this yourself quickly. Its quality sure doesn't get close to a proper speaker system, but it's lack in fidelity is well compensated by its coolness factor!"
