Comment Bungie's Strong arm tactics. (Score 0, Flamebait) 107

- Release a game that becomes very popular (See Halo 3)
- Create new maps as DLC(good thing)
- Remove the ability to play previously playable online multiplayer games without purchasing new maps.
- Charge for said maps
- repeat 3 times
- Overhype a Halo 3 disk with 1 extra campaign and 3-4 new maps and charge $60.00 for it, again removing multiplay online options to current players without purchase of said disk. ONLY, worth the price if you never owned Halo 3. Unfortunately the Majority of ODST owners already owned Halo 3.

Thankfully I took the advice of an honest reviewer about that suckfest ODST was for the price and waited until the 3 extra maps came out as DLC for only 800 MS points.

It is one thing to look towards DLC (Downloadable content) for extra revenue, but to strong arm your customer base into this is just wrong.

Submission + - A Hyper-Velocity Impact in the Asteroid Belt? (discovery.com)

astroengine writes: Astronomers have spotted something rather odd in the asteroid belt. It looks like a comet, but it's got a circular orbit, similar to an asteroid. Whether it's an asteroid or a comet, it has a long comet-like tail, suggesting something is being vented into space. Some experts think it could be a very rare comet/asteroid hybrid being heated by the sun, but there's an even more exciting possibility: It could be the first ever observation of two asteroids colliding in the asteroid belt.

Submission + - Net filter petition gets 100 signatures an hour (computerworld.com.au)

oranghutan writes: A lobby group trying to stop Australia's ISP-level internet filter group is claiming over 100 signatures an hour since launching its online petition last night. The EFA is hoping to take the petition to parliament for consideration. The government made a controversial decision to introduce the filters late last year despite howls of protest from the tech community and other representative groups like Save the Children. While there have been several calls for protest to be made this is the first concrete step being taken.

Canadian Blood Services Promotes Pseudoscience 219

trianglecat writes "The not-for-profit agency Canadian Blood Services has a section of their website based on the Japanese cultural belief of ketsueki-gata, which claims that a person's blood group determines or predicts their personality type. Disappointing for a self-proclaimed 'science-based' organization. The Ottawa Skeptics, based in the nation's capital, appear to be taking some action."

VACCINATE YOURSELF DUMBASS!!!!

Oddly enough I actually know more people who have gotten sick after the flu shot versus those who got sick without the flu shot.
As for myself having worked in healthcare for over 11 years on critical ICU, ER and respiratory units I have never gotten the flu shot have gotten the flu ONCE, NOT from the hospital. When I did, I stayed home, and with my knowledge managed not to infect anyone else.
Of all the areas with a high number of persons in a given space, a hospital is probably the safest place to be. You are surrounded by trained professional who know how to handle themselves and others. Your desk jockey buddy next to you WILL infect you.

For your information the precautions necessary that you think would be so economically unfeasible are the same precautions hospital workers already take.
It is called UNIVERSAL PRECAUTIONS. Hospital workers are TRAINED to treat everyone they encounter as if they are infectious. How many other professions have this training?
Vaccinate yourself since YOU are more likely to pass along the virus...
