Doesn't this involve remembering which finger you used? IE., basically the same thing as remembering your passcode? Also, a lot of the article comments were about some Touch ID system where a few wrong print reads failed over to the passcode, also if the phone was turned off and/or rebooted, it forced the passcode. Basically, if you get pulled over, turn off your phone before the officer gets there.

I worked with a guy in my last job who was doing some FISMA work with our group. He accepted a position doing IT support at some remote base in Iraq so he could cash in on ~110k in a year if he was able to work the full year, which I believe was also going to be tax free if over 12 months. The reason? He had over 90k in student loans to pay back, and was making less than 40k/year. I felt for the guy, as he was literally going to risk his life to try and pay off the loans since he wasn't able to get out from under them, ever, for the most part if he made minimum payments.

I agree with your post, except for the last part about rioting. There would absolutely be riots, because the rioting had nothing to do with the issue at hand. The riots were nothing more than a means to an end (ie, a bunch of thugs getting free stuff). Heck, half of the rioters came in from out of town if you believed the news reports, and people that lived in the area who were interviewed.

While the brain can remap, as someone mentioned earlier, it can take up to a year of effort on the patient (as well as the doctors) for the process to really begin. It is draining on the patient, severely draining. My wife lost the toes on her right foot recently, and she is beginning therapy soon to try and stop the phantom pain by using a mirror to re-wire her brain into thinking she has toes on that foot and to stop with the pain and 'oh crap toes missing' messages that are currently being sent.

She isn't expected to even begin to see results from this for 9-12 months while the brain re-wires itself.

Unless there is some possibility of quick recovery from this, I would have to go with some of the others and recommend the painful (painful for you; remember, funerals are for the living), but more humane, option of pulling the plug. This situation is exactly why my wife and I both have extremely detailed living wills.

As a guy, I hope I never, ever, enter this categorization.
