Submission + - Sociopath Scoffs Internet Infamy (msn.com)

Narnie writes: Follow up to yesterday's story of a PR rep's lack of professionalism. Kyle Orland provides a follow up interview with Paul Christoforo after a simple email chain escalated into internet infamy. N-Control official response to Paul Chrostoforo's actions can be found here. Kotaku.com even has a whole section devoted to covering the entire ordeal. I for one found myself caught following the news releases and in awe of the combined load forced on penny-arcade's servers from slashdot, reddit, digg, kotaku, and other news sites covering the story.

Submission + - Vista main culprit in Microsoft layoffs (infoworld.com)

Narnie writes: Infoworld.com author Tom Sullivan is suggesting that Vista's performance is so poor that it has forced Microsoft to initiate layoffs.

When Microsoft released its earnings report on Thursday, the company indicated not only that it would lay off up to 5,000 workers or 5 percent of its total headcount but also that software client revenue — as in Windows Vista — sank by 8 percent.
"Windows Vista didn't do well. Based on our data, a lot of clients are skipping Windows Vista," said Neil McDonald, an analyst at Gartner. Indeed, nearly every other major analyst firm found a similar lack of Vista adoption, with Forrester Research likening the OS to the failed New Coke.
