Im not getting any crashes on my win8/AMD machine. Have you tried upgrading your motherboard BIOS? There were some problems with old BIOS versions and the 7xxx series when going to sleep mode.
Only if you are running something like furmark 24/7 for the whole year. Most games will not even remotely stress the card so hard. Your card will mostly be in idle most of the time and in the case of new AMD cards they can even go to deep sleep when not in use and only burn 3W (useful for 24/7 machines such a s mine).
It works. A colleague of mine ported our android banking application to playbook in an hour and it worked. Making it work on all billion versions of android is another story
Thats because android has free apps. Why buy a paid app if there are good free alternatives available. I like my playbook but the selection of apps is a bit pathetic. At least we can convert android apps so its all good
Angry Birds is available on playbook so i guess its going to be available on Bb10 as well. Only angry birds star wars is missing.
Sometimes you get a faulty card. It has happened to me a couple of times. Nothing to do with the chip itself. Im running a hd7850 and didnt run into any of the problems you describe.
You do know that 7970 GE is faster than nvidias gtx680. Thats hardly what i would call not competing in the high end. Their CPUs on the other hand need some work
AMD cards have better price/performance ratio and drivers have been good for many years. Both companies have occasional problems with drivers but in the end drivers from both companies are good. (only had minor fixable problems with amd and nvidia drivers so far)
Nvidia does have better marketing and more fanboys though.
This is a different problem and is common to every crossfire/SLI setup. If you want to fix it you have to play with tools like radeon pro.
You will get spikes in every card from every manufacturer. Its not like the workload never changes.Sometimes it just takes longer to render a frame.
If they fix Enduro then yes. They started fixing the damn thing recently so i guess the answer will be yes.
You are refering to techreport articles right? There might be a problem or there might not be. I certainly havent seen any micro-stuttering with my hd7850. The type of tests they do are veeeeeery easy to manipulate. You just have to select a different short scene to render if you dont like the results and voila the other card wins. Average framerates might not tell you everything but atleast they are harder to manipulate. (though techreport still has a tendency to measure much lower average FPS for AMD than competing review sites)
When it comes to mobile they certainly lost. Enduro is still a work in progress while nvidias optimus works (unless you are using linux
When it comes to desktops i think they provide a better value than nvidias current offerings.
7990 exists but its not exactly a high volume product. You can of course buy it if you are rich enough.
