The entire country is gearing up to have 1 Gbps service by 2012, or at least that is what the Korea Communications Commission (KCC) is claiming. I agree with the social influence. You're more likely to see Asian girls in math and science, I'm guessing family support is an important factor. I'm not sure those are the only reasons, there could be some biological differences, too. Girls tend to choose the life sciences more than physical sciences, so maybe they prefer animate over inanimate.
