No more than stupid rumors. Chrome OS main strength is the ability to run on cheap hardware, and if Google netbook will exist, it will utilize this advantage. For example, why does it need 64Gb SSD while it may store all data in the cloud? Why does it need NVidia Tegra chip? To play 720p HD video on 10" screen? - what a joke.

What about mindless copy-paste? That's exactly how most of the content is "typed".

Smartphone is a phone that is powered by an operating system. So, it comes down to the definition of "operating system".

It doesn't matter whether you interact with it via touch screen, keyboard or your brain waves - smartness of a phone is defined by software, not hardware.

Obviously, by "Windows" in this context I meant NT kernel based version of Windows. JFYI, Windows CE != Windows NT, the are completely different operating systems and do not share code.
Not to say that an average consumer would probably find Windows Mobile even more weird than netbook Linux distro.

Typical netbook apps (Firefox, OpenOffice, Pidgin) are already ported to ARM Linux, so ARM netbooks may fill the niche that used to be occupied by ASUS eeePC 701 and similar devices. As x86 netbooks move to "small, inexpensive laptop" niche, ARM devices may fulfill the role of "small inexpensive device for web browsing/word processing". Their competitive advantages over x86 netbooks are lower price and better battery life.

The best thing about ARM-based netbook (and the worst thing for an average consumer) is that you cannot put Windows on it. So, every ARM netbook sold is a plus to overall Linux market share.

By isolation I meant prohibiting its own citizens from going abroad, limited international trade, no foreign investment etc. Surely, USSR wanted to extend its boundaries (and ultimately conquer the whole world), and thus negate the effect of this self-imposed isolation.
So, it was USSR's own stupid isolationist policy that eventually lead to its demise.

Just for your information, USSR have chosen to isolate itself from the very beginning of its existence (1922).
