As I stated, NO ALERTS in my account. So perhaps you should learn to read. Since you missed the major portion of what I wrote.

This may indicate that a specified group of ebay users are affected and is NOT site wide. But you'll miss this too since it's obviously implied and not spelled out letter by letter.

I appreciate that you're an asshole and Aspergers makes it hard to communicate. Perhaps 4chan is more your thing.

Better yet, just logged into my ebay acct. and there's NOTHING in the communications there either.

So why not use it but with wrong info? I caved because I was losing contact with some people that only network via social media. They got tired of emails and were impossible to get on a phone. My profile has nothing of importance. No location info. And all the data I did put in is wrong, grossly wrong. I never message directly with detailed info, I will just reply telling them to swap to email. This works for both of us. And harvesters have a very good set of data on me. It's just all wrong.

It'll be way too expensive to have a build your own phone. And it's not what the majority of consumers want. Apple has proven this time and time again. An unserviceable phone, an unserviceable tablet, and now unserviceable laptops. None of which have the simplest of battery swaps available (hell even the ram is soldered on board now in the MBPs). They've built the largest computer (mostly mobile) empire on hardware that is idiot proof and has no options. This is what consumers want. A build your own phone would be fun, but just not practical and way too expensive.

I'll get slammed, I know. Fanbois unite and all that. Oddly enough I'm typing this on a 5yr old MBP that I will lament when it finally goes. I don't like ios and most likely will never upgrade since I do not like their new models. I know this one has been through a lot with me and performed flawlessly. I've done some hardware hacks and it's been fun.

I guess my grandma reads /. now. Since that seems to be the demographic you're targeting.

There was once a time that I got about 65% of my news from /.. I enjoyed the topics and the discussions were often as informative as the stories, sometimes more. This is just not the case anymore. /. has degraded to just an old grocery store check out line rag. Very little actual content. Scare tactic headlines. You know the drill.

LA and Detroit are two entirely different beasts. Unless you have a dead body of some kind a cop does not respond in Detroit. It's been policy for decades. Car accidents and robberies are reported by the victim downtown. They used to have a specialized response team nicknamed the Big Four. That was a good deal of ass kicking if that car showed up. But budget issues did away with them in the late 80's. Detroit's police are not as well armed as the citizens.

I just wonder about the ensuing hipster massacres and if they'll post it live to tumblr as they go down?

I went back for a visit last winter. It's sad. There are tiny pockets of hold outs and then the rest is just a free for all. Scrappers have gutted ever bit of available metal from any empty building not staffed with armed guards. This is best done with a sledge hammer and torch. The buildings are not recoverable after that. The roads are worse than a dirt road. At least gravity levels those out a bit. Then there's the crime.

I found a hipster pocket in DelRay. Perhaps one of the most obliterated areas. The homes are early 20th cen and cute. They sell for about $10 - 100. If you can find a buyer. There was a 2 block section of white hipsters fixing up their little gems. Baby strollers, all the trimmings. And I commented to a friend who still lives about .5 miles away: "Don't they realize when things get bad enough they're gonna be food for the locals?" He just laughed and said no.

Nothing has really changed there. Sadly it won't. The mentality is still the same. No matter how much money you throw at it. The city is corrupt from the ground up and has been for 100+ yrs. The new mayor may help. But he'll most likely give up like Archer did. Without a major paradigm shift in mentality it will always be Detroit.

I'm a strong believer in having individual email addresses for each important login. I don't think I have a single email address that is related to more than 3 logins max. This greatly limits the ability to have a single breech allow someone into the entire kingdom. While this may not be as convenient as having a single pass login.... I'm ok with that. I keep everything in a password wallet (locally, no cloud usage) to have it all organized.
