If they only provided cable television, that would be fine. What Comcast has now is a monopoly over the roads that enable people to access the internet.

What the government should be doing is providing the infrastructure that enables competition. Ensuring fair and equal access to the commons is what governments are for. What we get here in the US monopoly enforcement.
Saddleing people with a lifetime of debt is not the answer. A governments duty to its constituents is to provide them with the tools to thrive in the environments that they find themsleves. This is why primary and eventually high school educations became eventually mandated as free and eventually required of all citizens under their jurisdiction. There is no way that something that can only be obtained by money can be considered equalizing in any democracy.
The Civil Rights Act of 1964 outlawed discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin.
Right or wrong, LGTB is not in there.

Democratic governments represent the will of the people so, if the people are greedy, their governments will be greedy.
He believed a revolution was coming.
There seemed to be no limit to greed. If docking wages would increase profits, it was done. If higher railroad rates put more gold in their coffers, it was done. How much was enough, Roosevelt wondered?
The only reasonable outcome is for government to take control of the infrastructure that is the backbone of the internet and build it out as they did with roads. This is not a communistic viewpoint as free travel spurs commerce while tolls inhibit it.
