Aww... somebody needs a hug! And... maybe a cookie?

Seriously... lighten up. These here be ye boards for commenting, not ye boards for planking.

That i "went above and beyond after having it pointed out speaks volumes" about having a healthy sense of humor. Cookies are medicine, you know... take two and maybe your sense of humor will recover!

You're a very serious person. Congratulations on that... Just to be obstinate, I am holding my right hand over the portion of the screen which is displaying whatever text you're quoting.

Further, I will allude to what is known as "The Draft," which is comparable, but exceeds a cash requirement and goes directly for your life.

This highly dismissive post is intellectually dishonest.

It's like to chose to react and in doing so dismissed the notion of actual thought... Are you, at all, familiar with the "Slippery Slope" argument?

You are correct in that these will not be, "mandatory government issued computers or something."
They are, in fact, much worse... the government doesn't have a 90% market share on computer operating systems.

I would be willing to bet that more people would complain about the removal of games than would if events were eliminated.

It seems to me that the reason no one "seems to be using" google+ has more to do with people being able to choose whether or not to pay attention to the inane posts of others, whereas they are unavoidable with facebook. No matter how few or many contact you have; you aren't guaranteed an audience with g+

That missing [forced]direct feedback channel is both the boon and the bane of g+

Of course... I don't really know, as I've stopped using both services due to the fact that they're asinine.

Purdue Researchers Demonstrate Low-Power, Fast FeTRAM Memory 50

eldavojohn writes "Researchers at Purdue University's Birck Nanotechnology Center have released news of a proof of concept new ferroelectric transistor random access memory or 'FeTRAM.' This new technology is nonvolatile and the researchers claim it could use up to 99% less energy than current flash memory. Unlike most FeRAM technology that uses a capacitor, FeTRAM provides nondestructive readout by storing information using a ferroelectric transistor instead. From the article: 'The new technology also is compatible with industry manufacturing processes for complementary metal oxide semiconductors, or CMOS, used to produce computer chips. It has the potential to replace conventional memory systems.' So if they get this into production, you might not have to worry about your laptop cooking your genitals. They've been published in ACS (paywalled) and the professor leading the research has many patents filed relating to transistor nanotechnology."

Ignoring the notion that contractors such as Akamai have monitoring access to these devices is a dangerous misconception to have. There are avenues available for even this highly secured information to leak... nothing about this new device changes the NSA's outsourcing policies.

Submission + - Global Internet governance fight looms (dot-nxt.com) 2

QuietLagoon writes: The global fight among governments over control of the Internet is heating up amid a flurry of documents, the opening of the United Nations' General Assembly (GA) and next week's Internet Governance Forum (IGF). Will the change in Internet governance result in states like China and Russia exerting more control over what is allowed on the Internet? The United States has so far comprehensively outmaneuvered attempts by other governments to seize control of the Internet, helped by the fact that it holds the keys and represents the status quo. But how long will it continue to be able to do so?
