Picture Twitter.

Okay...now picture that Twitter was composed of 40,000 smaller Twitters that could interact with the same space. Anyone can start the smol twitter and join the network. There's no centralized control. You're at the mercy of your smol twitter admin being able to block people. Get a death threat? Well maybe you can inform the police but there's no administration to kick them off the Fediverse. When they get banned...they make a new smol Twitter and continue.

It's everything that was great about early social media while being the worst of the internet.

I was on the Fediverse.

I left. It's a nice concept that's ruined by it's own creation. The number of servers that exist to just harass is mind-boggling. Your instance blocks one but two more pop-up because anyone can spin up a server and join the fediverse. After 3 days of being unable to block the disgusting spam and threats, I left.

Decentralized social media networks are just where hate and disgustingness breed. Anyone going to the Fediverse will have a horrible opinion of social media as a lawless garbage pit.

Streaming is just another way to play consumers for chumps. Everybody is getting in on the game and charging their own stupidly high fees. The system is more fractured than ever. Pretty soon all that will be on Netflix is Netflix content...all the other studio will be putting their movies on their service where they get 100% of the content.

Just OK TV is all most people will get. Linear cable is already zombified. Networks are putting their good shows on streaming and cheap shit on the air. ATSC 3.0 will allow them to outright block you from watching if you don't have an internet connection and paid up for the decryption key.

Network blackouts proved they're just using consumers as a pawn. Stop being hollywood's bitch.

They all want a police state. They absolutely love the idea of having complete control over the citizens. Caring about freedom is just an act they put forth to get in to power. Some of the worst regimes in history started out pandering to citizens. Both have said things that are pretty counter to the freedoms laid out in our constitution...but when they're on a bigger stage they claim they didn't. It's the standard political move.

Don't worry..we'll go through our fascist regime soon. We're too much of a divided bunch of ignorant fools for it to not happen. Considering citizens are starting to feel like the best solution is to take the lives of those they agree with...any sense of mutual respect is over. If you want to murder your neighbor because he doesn't support your ideas...you've reached the point of no return.

Except the studios have loopholes. These lawsuits never hold up. Consider they can file DMCA complaints that are "final" and "unappealable." They get to make the accusations against you and say "you did it. we don't care. you did it. you are not allowed to make a defense. you will comply."

The reality is the law doesn't work for us.

Except the DMCA is not legal action and it's a bunch of agreements made between studios and providers. "You tell this person to fuck off and we won't sue you"...so ultimately a lawsuit would be dropped because the action wasn't taken BY the studio, just at the request of the studio. Google would say it's legally bound to respond to these.

US laws are designed to fuck the people, not help them.

Dude....out in that area Sandy Valley is the closest you've got to a city. I think they were trying to get home from Vegas? IIRC there's a couple of dirt roads that lead out of Sandy Valley (and Charleston View), that will get you back to main roads to get to Vegas. If someone got stuck between Sandy Valley and Vegas then there must have been a problem. Several years ago Maps was pretty sure 53 didn't go to Goodspring.
