Comment Oh great. (Score 0) 29

The smaller the pixel, the more susceptible to quantum noise it is.

10 years ago, I got myself a camera with a 8.4 m pitch pixels full-frame sensor. It’s right above the 6 quantum noise threshold, and 10 years later, I am still amazed by the pictures taken in low-light. You only start to see noise above 1600 ISO!

So, those extra-super-duper-pixel cameras must be noisy as hell, and a lot of processing power will be used to remove the noise, and with it, a bit of picture details...

Submission + - Norway fines Tesla for reducing battery capacities and charging speeds (engadget.com)

Pig Hogger writes: Tesla was sued by some thirty Tesla owners in Norway after their 2013-2015 model cars saw reduced opeating ranges (by up to 50 kilometers) and DC fast-charging at "supercharger" stations. LOL. Given they are the employees of a contractor, they surely do not fit the criterion to be given access to the school wifi, which is probably turned off at night "to save money"...

Submission + - SPAM: SpaceX finally nails Starship landing

Pig Hogger writes: After aborting an earlier test flight 0.1 seconds after firing the engines because, according to Elon Musk, "overconservative over thrust parameter", Starship Serial Number 10 took to the skies and soared 10 kilometers up with the usual progression from 3 Raptor engines to one, then did it’s "belly flop" and plummeted to Earth until the last second, where it lit-up all three Raptor engines to right the Starship and propulsively land on the new Boca Chica, TX, landing pad, only missing the "SpaceX" bullseye by less than a diameter. However, once the engines were shut down, it was apparent that the landing legs did not properly deploy as the rocket was resting leaning a few degrees from the vertical, but otherwise intact.

One downside is that each string now take sizeof(length) - sizeof(terminator) more space, and if you still need the terminator anyways (a frequent situation) then you dont even get to deduct the terminator.

Haven't you noticed? it's not 1972 anymore where each byte of RAM costs $0.25...
