Oh bullshit. The development of this was absurdly expensive and rapid, even with the fed govt. footing the bill. It was cheap before because that's what the government negotiated. All those billions you lot whine about funding the research literally saved 10's or 100's of thousands of lives and is a dirt cheap expense.

We're now past the emergency, so the cost is going to more closely reflect what the market will bear. Most people not too worried about covid vaccines anymore anyway, so demand is going way down.

Some of you guys should look into this invention called "insurance". And what kind of broke ass motherfucker can't afford $130 for something if they really need it? The dirt poor are covered by state/Federal insurance of some sort, and anyone over dirt poor can eke out $130. You're all acting like they are charging $9k for it.

This same thread is going on over at reddit and the literal clones of one another are all posting the exact same dreary bullshit. "But, but, muh tax dollars!". Those zoomers and millenials are all ranting about guillotines and windfall taxes and "get muh tax money back" when 90% of those fuckers pay like $100 in taxes a year anyway.

Here is the truth. We needed a vaccine fast, so we paid for it and we fucking got it. Success! Everyone was happy, and what we the taxpayers got for our money (keeping in mind, again, that 90% of the fuckers complaining probably pay like an effective Federal tax rate of 8%, if that) was an effective way to slow the virus, and reduce severity - and we got it quickly and the government got a good deal to give us all free shots.

Oh, and the research that led to that vaccine will probably end up curing a giant chunk of human disease. Cancers included.

So now what happens? We're through the crisis and they raise the price to a whopping $130. Oh no, not $130 it's (cue scary music for idiots) "400%!!". So for a shot you don't really need much anymore, that you get once or twice a year $130 is supposed to be expensive? And your insurance will probably pay most or all of it?

People are fucking crazy and super easy to rile up. Put "400%!" in the headline, make it about a pharmaceutical and these rabble fucks get all riled up.

Who do you think pays corporate taxes? Hint: It's consumers, stupid.

A smarter person would say raise taxes on the individuals who benefit most from corporations, personally. So raise taxes on stock grants, and raise taxes on higher income earners by targeting all the ways they make their money.

Nuclear is fucking expensive but so is what's coming in terms of both climate change and simply not having enough power. We should have been investing in it over the last 30 years but all the anti-nuclear squad (oil goons on the one hand, slow-adult environmentalists on the other, walking hand in hand) have fucked us.
