I agree, and I think that while the Internet is a great tool that puts information out there to be accessed more easily, these people aren't doing anything a small percentage of people haven't been doing since the beginning of time. Some people can do very well with self-teaching--in fact, they thrive on it and do better than in a classroom environment--and those people have always been more inclined to seek out the textbooks, articles, manuals, documentation, whatever it is they need to learn. The Internet just makes it easier to find the information, it doesn't make it so that people who aren't wired that way can do it.

... I watch football, but beyond that, it stays on the 'input' channel for my game consoles. Honestly, what's worth watching anymore? Very occasionally I'll get a hankering for an episode of The Soup, House, MD or Law & Order: SVU, but most TV these days is boring, predictable, or that "reality" BS. I am not the lowest common denominator, and the fact that so many TV shows are like a coked-out version of Jerry Springer is a real turn-off. (Ha! Pun not intended, but appreciated after the fact.)

Oh man, SMRPG. I found that beauty at Dragon-Con a couple of years ago. Paid $50 for it, but don't regret the purchase at all. Great game! I'll admit I'm cheating with CT, it's the DS version--exact same game, though, if you haven't seen it yet. They added some features but made sure it didn't really interfere with the original at all. It's fantastic.

Now that I've finished those, I'm on to Mario All-Stars. :D

Not to go too far off on a tangent here, but GODDAMMIT that tl;dr thing pisses me off. I believe it translates into English as, "I'm a twit with the attention span of a flea, who can't be bothered to read anything logical, lest my enthusiastically-defended yet little-understood or -researched opinion be proven wrong. Therefore, although I really did read your post and am seething with rage, I will pretend I am enitrely too cool/busy/superior to have read past the first two sentences, about the part of the post where I realised I was getting pwned."

*pant, wheeze, calm down*

Oh, hey, before I forget, let me throw in the token "hey, I'm a female!" response to this conversation.
