Just as stupid and with the same potential casualties as the fucking morons who think it's a good idea to shine a laser into the cockpit of an aircraft. As previously noted by another poster, most real RC'rs are well aware of their responsibilities, so I can only imagine that this is the work of a complete wanker.

Comment this is not science (Score 1) 235

Psychology, sociology, and several other ###ologies will never be sciences. They may use statistical methods (well or badly) but one of the fundamentals of science is that experimental results should be repeatable, and I suppose refutable. They key here is experimental - this is not an experiment, it is data crunching. Sorry, data crunching is not science and never will be (yes it may be a tool of science). This is as bad as the correlation = causality moronic statements that we see frequently.

But Hell, isn't every facility in the USA better at everything than any other focussed facility anywhere else in the word. You obviously haven't studied the US facilities sufficiently - Geeze man get with the fucking program - the USA RULEZ !!! . Yes I live in Australia ......(PS I love Parkes and the new "scope" in WA will be mind blowing! )

I agree. I'm now aged 55 but I remember regular occasions like this from my late teens/early 20's when a solution that I was pondering on in the evening was obvious the next morning after sleep. Was it rest or was it my pea-brain working at it while I "slept". I have no clue, but this was common for me in both Maths and Physics. Does it happen now? Don't know as I'm not in the game of trying to show someone what I know (undergraduate), so I have not for a number of years (decades), had to put it to the test.

Comment PDP8 (Score 1) 632

The first computer I saw was a PDP8, donated to the school by the Hydro Electric Commission, the the state electricity generator. What did I learn? That the nerds of the time carried around pockets full of paper tape that did all sorts of useful stuff like a list of the powers of 2. Yes I admit I was a luddite, but several years later I discovered the joys of BASIC programming. What do I do now? Enjoy the fruits of the programming labours of others. I have no interest in programming and am very happy for someone else to take on that poison chalice.
