I told our work Alexa it was creepy, maybe that why Amazon has been delaying my game shipements the past year or so. Doh! So sorry Alexa McCreeperton.

I wasn't wearing protective equipment a few years back when I got tripped up inline skating, ended up landing on my right patella (kneecap) and broke it into 3 pieces. Prior to this incident I hadn't fallen in over 20 years of skating and was over-confident and stupidly not wearing protective padding. Painful lesson learned...

Needless to say I wear full protective gear after two surgeries, months of physio for my extremely tight and shrunken quads, etc. Mandating a helmet for these type of activities where you are moving on concrete should be a no-brainer. I see dumb people with very small children in my area with no helmets, wobbling on bikes and scooters, makes me cringe.

Comment We still use paper ballots up here, eh (Score 2, Informative) 470

We still use paper ballots in our elections here in Canada and I'm fine with that. For the most part they work very well, except when they don't have enough ballots. We encountered that in our city elections last year in Calgary, which caused an uproar. Hopefully that doesn't make them decided to go electronic.

Thankfully the Calgary Flames/Gary Bettman/NHL annointed candidate of choice lost, seemed like he was ready to cut them a nice big juicy new arena cheque had he won.

Yes, nerds and geeks do complain about "support" because we know that having insecure devices/operating systems is what leads to you getting pwned. Your friends say they have no problems, but how do they know if their devices have malware on them? Oh that's right, they don't.

I would never do anything like banking on my phone as it just isn't worth the risk. Some malware could silently be logging your info, login credentials, etc then one day oops, your bank account is empty. Yup, sure was worth using that insecure phone from 5 years ago. That being said Android-based phone companies should support phones longer than 2 years, or 6 months in HTC's case. At least Google upped their supported releases to 3 years last year.

I bought a HTC U11 last Nov, got it right after they released the Oreo update. Cool I thought, HTC seems to be on the ball with software updates. Unfortunately that was the last software update my phone has received. Still rocking the Dec 2017 security updates, thanks HTC!!! The phone itself is pretty good, such a waste that they aren't supporting it all, other than updating some of their apps.

As they don't seem to care about customer security, not a big surprise the U12+ is selling poorly. They dug their own grave, time to lie in it HTC. Should've sold your entire phone div to Google, although maybe they didn't want it all. Hmmm.

No hyperbole, it is people crossing the border illegally. I have no problem with people legally immigrating to Canada, the neighborhood I live in is 40% immigrants. But when both US and Canadian governments allow it to happen it is an affront to the people who are legally immigrating, IMHO.

"Roughly 75 per cent of the 25,000 asylum seekers who crossed into Quebec last year did so illegally and the government is anticipating a surge in migrants arriving again this year."

https://globalnews.ca/news/415...

"Officials said Monday it is expecting about 400 people to cross the border through forests and wooded areas every day this summer — up from 250 each day last year."

Which country is letting large numbers of immigrants illegally cross the border into Quebec and Manitoba the past few years? President Trump doesn't seem to concerned about stopping that from happening. Our current government is also part of the problem.

As for the "pharmaceutical practices" I don't know about IP issues, but I know the cost of drugs here isn't nearly as ridiculous as things are becoming in the U.S. Sorry we aren't letting drug companies rip off people as badly as they do in your country, Mr. President.
