It's an old article but new to me: Analysis of Netflix's DVD Allocation System

I already think I get my money's worth from Netflix, but it is quite interesting to see this analysis and what other slashdotters think. I also joined the related yahoo group. I need to go back soon and introduce myself.

Done a bit of posting today on the "P2P doesn't hurt CD sales" issue today. Very talkative on that so I haven't used my mod points.

IP and economics together in one article, that's very appealing to me. I'd like to go to grad school and somehow combine them into one study field. This article gives me a start. Is there a way I can flag it for future reference? Might want to get one of these guys to be my advisor.

Just settled down for a slashdot session. I have the power today, 5 mod points. If I don't use them, I lose them. Maybe I'll comment about that in my journal in a little bit.

I'm not particularly interested in baring my soul here, but if I do, please note that Comments are Enabled so feedback is possible. And if I make an ass of myself, at least I'm pseudoanonymous. And the people who have the power to track me down don't want to and I probably don't care about them either.

I don't yet have a purpose for this journal. I just noticed that when I post a comment or anyone else posts a comment, it indicated when that person's last journal entry was made. Heck, maybe I should just check out what other folks write about. My guess would be to make notes about the threads that are interesting but that I don't make comments to.

So, I have a journal and everyone* can read it. I'd better start looking intelligent or interesting or something.

*not that anyone will, they must 1) be on slashdot 2) know that I'm on slashdot 3) give a damn about what I say or at least be curious 4) have a tendency to have strange involuntary finger movements that accidentally coincide with selecting my journal.
