It pours money and people into initiatives that promote, assist, support and implement web standards. As a core foundation of is mission statement, all web assetts should ideally be of a kind that it can work with.

Strange then, that the world's most popular search engine doesn't index all of the current important web standards formats.

Be aware that your multiple objectives conflict somewhat.

  1. Homogenous IT platform to simplify maintenance, support and training.
  2. Usefulness to the core requirement of teaching
  3. Relevance to the future work environment
  4. Finite budget

How to resolve the conflict? It isn't easy. You don't have enough information to predict the future of IT (nobody does).

Ah. Have you asked your gifted students for their views? They'll have opinions about the future of IT that may differ from those of your old grey haired colleagues in IT.

It was the leading supporter of Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) for the first half of last decade, publishing and distributing an SVG plugin for Internet Explorer and supporting SVG in Illustrator and GoLive. Adobe lost its moral compass when it bought Macromedia, After failing to halt the popularity of web standards and standing at the edge of a precipice, Adobe is now seeking forgiveness from developers.
